Literature Text

I know the small parts of you that perhaps nobody else does,
including yourself.
They could, if you asked them to, search for these things
with a microscope, a magnifying glass and a small torch,
but I never needed them,
I learned you off by heart.

For example,
if tested, I feel I could quite accurately estimate the size of your wrists, two of them, lean and attached
to hands that always want something in them.
I suppose also that if given the materials, I could recreate the colour of your skin, surprisingly warm,
and of your eyes,
daydream glaze brown,
without too much effort.

Should there ever be a need, I could quite possibly quote you to the extent
that I could write a book purely on the words you said without intention and,
in an all too easy heartbeat,
could pinpoint the highs and lows
of knowing all of these knowings.
I was looking at an old photo and my eyes locked onto their (for it is of no importance who this person is) wrists and for some reason, I became really overwhelmed (and somewhat saddened) by the fact that I know exactly what those wrists look like, the size of them, what it's like to touch them, where to touch to feel the bones beneath, and it dawned on me how much I physically know of this person's body, all things they would probably overlook, all things other people would probably overlook, and yet, I know them so outrageously well. Wrists, go figure.
